Experts in Healthy Hormones and Aging Well
Hormones play a vital role in every woman’s health and well-being. When hormone levels like estrogen and progesterone are out of balance, this can affect your mood, sexual desire, fertility and ovulation. These hormones and others such as your stress hormone, cortisol are influenced by other factors such as diet, lifestyle, sleep, exercise, stress, emotions, age and ovulation.
Female Hormone Imbalance may occur at any age in a woman’s life. We have seen young girls in their late teens with hormone abnormalities related to stress and eating too many refined carbohydrates. Women in their thirties frequently present with peri-menopause complaining of PMS, weight gain, depression and fatigue. Although menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 60, we have seen clients in full-blown menopause in their early thirties. Symptoms of hormone imbalance include:
- Migraines or headaches
- PMS
- Hot flashes
- Decreased energy
- Lack of skin elasticity and wrinkling
- Irritability and anxiety
- Low sex drive
- Memory issues
- Aches, pains and stiffness
- Higher Cholesterol
- Vaginal Dryness
- Poor sleep
At the Nourishing Wellness Medical center, we help you balance your hormones, as well as, your lifestyle. The two are often connected. We can help you become more aware of all the issues that may have an impact on your sex, stress and thyroid hormones: This includes diet, lifestyle such as sleep patterns, exercise and how you manage day to day to stress. We encourage all of our clients to follow a low inflammatory type of diet because this tends to reduce some of the fluctuations in cortisol and even progesterone. Then, if your blood work suggests you could benefit by supplementing hormones, we only recommend natural bio-identical hormones.
We only prescribe bio-identical hormones. These are the same identical hormones that our body makes naturally. They are extracted from soy and wild yams and when they enter the blood stream, they interact with our cells in the same way as your own hormones. Occasionally, we have a woman in our practice who prefer how HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy works in their body. These hormones are derived from the urine of horses. They are not identical to what your body produces but they have some proven benefits. We honor that every woman is unique. So, if a woman prefers using HRT because she feels better than using bio-identical hormones, we will continue to prescribe them.
Our goal for all women at The Nourishing Wellness Medical Center is to support your greater health and well-being through hormone balance and a healthier lifestyle.
